Yes, it feels good to come back from a vacation, only to realize that everyone else is waiting for the release of the results. Where did all my committee members go? In simple human language, I got back 2 days ago after my 3 week vacation, realized that the results are not released on the due date (June 1st). I went into a WTF mode and got it done within 3 hours. Without further ado, we present to you the results of the people’s choice awards. After close to 800 over legitimate voters, we finally came up with the winners for each category.

Five bloggers of different backgrounds and influences make up the team responsible for The ABA — Impz of “THAT Anime Blog“, Owen S of “Cruel Angel Theses“, TheBigN of “Drastic My Anime Blog“, mellow_bunny of “mellowSPACE” and Akai of “Reinforce Network“, who have all contributed to the project in their own way.

Scheduled to take place from the 19th of March right up till the 20th of June, The ABA consists of 2 phases: In the first phase, nominations will take place from March 19th to April 22nd. This will be followed by the second phase from April 25th to May 15th where the public will be able to vote for the Readers’ Choice, with the bloggers voting for the Bloggers’ Choice concurrently. These are two different independent awards. Results will be released on the 1st of June.

The Best News Blog should adhere the journalistic qualities of news writing. That includes credibility, novelty, timeliness and conflict. A good news blog should be a site of credibility, giving information from esteemed sources. The entries should be interesting and catchy, highlighting events that will surprise us with its uniqueness. It should also be able to bring the important news as quick to the reader. Lastly, it reports conflicts within the anime blogosphere or controversies in the anime realm, giving us different views on the issue.

The winner of this category is one that brings you the best news, every time.

The Best Art blog is able to to express the skills of not only the artist but also the message that portrays in them. They are not biased against any style of art and is open in their criticism of the anime fanart. The Best Doujinshi blogger has the knowledge of the doujinshi circles and the work revolving around this esteemed job. The blog also needs to display an understanding in the effort and time needed behind the work. The entries should display a keen eye on what is good or bad on amateur fan comics. The Best Visual Novel Blog should be well versed in various games and able to be objective in its review.

All in all, these blogs celebrate the greatness of fanart and the origins of many anime.

In order to be a good figurine blog, images is the key phrase here. Pictures of the figurine have to be sharp, suggestive and brings out the beauty of the figurine. The figurine blogger should also have an extensive collection of anime figurines in order to have a well rounded discussion of all types of models. Reviews should be up to date due to the constant release of figurines to the market. There must be a detailed review on the beauty, craftsmanship and other important information about the anime figurine. Originality in the composition of pictures and writing is always a welcome thing.

The Best Figurine Blog should be a blog that provides a comprehensive review of anime figurines, and help the reader to make an educated decision on the figurine.

The comic should definitely have enough references to anime, while being informative, interesting, exciting and/or funny (since humor is a hard thing). It should be well drawn for its concept. The comic should also appear in regular intervals to satisfy the need of its loving/hating fans.

All in all, the comic has to be original, clear and interesting enough to hook every single reader to it like an addictive drug, leaving them with no choice but to wait in earnest for the next comic to be released.
